چکیده

This study is focused on the evaluation of zinc oxide properties and behavior at commercially available cosmetic ingredients by in vitro methods of dermal absorption of zinc oxide and its subsequent chemical determinations. Two methods for determination of ZnO were used and the results were compared. The spectrophotometric method (SPM) was selected for its sensitivity and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) was selected as a reference method. The study was also aimed at monitoring the samples during storage and evaluation of changes in ZnO properties by photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS). Both methods for determination of zinc oxide content in model samples were in good agreement. In the samples obtained by the dermal absorption higher values were always acquired by SPM method. This difference will be the subject of further investigation. It was also found that the zinc oxide undergo agglomeration in cosmetic product. Key-Words: Zinc oxide, dermal absorption, spectrophotometric determination, atomic absorption spectroscopy

The use of unirradiated and γ-irradiated zinc oxide nanoparticles as a preservative in cosmetic preparations

PURPOSE Microbial contamination of different cosmetic preparations, as a result of preservative failure, presents a major public health threat. Also, most of the known preservatives have serious consumer side effects. The antimicrobial activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NP) is well documented. Therefore, we aimed to determine the possible use of unirradiated and γ-irradiated ZnO NP as a ...

ترکیبات موجود در فرآورده‌های ضدآفتاب: اکسید روی

Although ultraviolet rays constitute a small portion of the sunlight, they are destructive on skin. Ultraviolet rays cause sunburn, skin damage and skin cancers. Sunscreens are one of the most widely used cosmetic products which protect skin from cancer or other damages. There are two categories of sunscreen agents: chemical and physical. Physical sunscreens containing zinc oxide work through t...

Analysis of zinc oxide nanoparticles binding proteins in rat blood and brain homogenate

Nanoparticles (NPs) are currently used in chemical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and electronic products. Nevertheless, limited safety information is available for many NPs, especially in terms of their interactions with various binding proteins, leading to potential toxic effects. Zinc oxide (ZnO) NPs are included in the formulation of new products, such as adhesives, batteries, ceramics, cosmeti...
